Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017

Saturday, 31 December 2016

When I think about this past year, I don't have the fondest memories if I'm being honest. This was a tough year to get through, and I'm happy to bid it farewell.

I started off the year with a literal panic attack, and without going into the details, I got really upset with myself. I allowed my social anxiety to win again for the countless time. What could have been something great amounted to nothing because I ran away scared yet again. Everything I wanted was right there, and I allowed my insecurities and anxiety to make me retreat into myself, and run and hide. After that I went into the biggest depression span I've ever experienced in my life. Instead of it lasting a few days or a few weeks, it lasted months! That was months of having no energy or motivation to do anything. I got into a routine of work and sleep. It wasn't living, just going through the motions.

The worst month was June, which should have been the best month since that's my birthday month and summer is just starting to really come into full swing then. But everything just came to a head that month, and it was awful. After that month ended, I decided that enough was enough and I needed to do something! So I decided to take a chance and look into seeing if my favourite store, Indigo, was hiring. It was all right place, at right time and from there I started the process of getting out of the toxic work life that was Tim Hortons, and try for something better. I had a horrible interview experience, where I spent the majority of the time resisting the urge to bolt from the room because I was on the verge of having a panic attack. When it was over, I was convinced that I didn't get the job, but I didn't let it break me, which I felt was progress for me. Little did I know I actually got the job!!! HAPPIEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE! I'm not lying when I say that getting this job was life saving for me. It changed my life, and I'm so grateful and happy. I'm so much happier and I'm starting to feel like I can do this, I can achieve more goals if I just take a chance and try!

For 2017, my productive goal is to get my driver's license! It's time, and I just don't want to take the bus anymore, haha!! But my main goal is to work on my social anxiety and my well-being. I'm writing a blog post about Social Anxiety and how crippling it is. I feel like if I write it out and express it, then it helps a little to lift that weight off if I share what it is that I go through on a daily basis, to give everyone who cares to know what my life is like and how it's been since I was 13. But enough about that, you'll see that soon enough in the next few days. Mainly, I just want to try to learn to not sweat the small stuff!

So that's been my year, and my plans for the new year! What are your plans and resolutions?

I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!! Hope 2017 is good to you!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Thursday, 17 November 2016

Yes, Christmas is my most favourite time of the year! I love everything about it. I love decorating for Christmas, getting to wear my Christmas sweaters and listening to Christmas music. I love shopping for and wrapping the presents. It's my favourite holiday ever, and I'm unapologetic about just how much I love Christmas! So I thought I'd do a before and after of my living room as I decorated it this year. We got a new tree this year so I got help setting it up and decorating it from Julie!

(Julie and my mom's stockings are missing some letters, haha!!)

The beautiful new Christmas tree!

These hung out while we put up the tree. Zeus was sleeping upstairs in my room at the time.

Rating: 5/5

My Review:

I thought since this book is more of a photo book than an actual book-book that I would include my movie review along with it since both book and movie are about The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire adventure that Dan and Phil went on. Since releasing The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire (which you can read my review for here), the boys came up with a stage show that they've been touring across the world with. Since not everyone could go to the show (ie. people like me), they filmed the show and released it on YouTube Red, you can find it on Dan's channel. They also filmed a documentary of what went into the making of the show, also released on YouTube Red, and can be found on Phil's channel.

I loved watching both films on each of their channels. I started with the making of documentary, and it was great to see everything that went into the show, and it really showed just how hard these two guys work at what they do. Then, I went on to watch the stage show and it was amazing!! I wish I could have gone when they came to Toronto. It had everything that we love from their videos put into the show, and it all tied together. I laughed so much while watching it in the best way!

After watching the film, I bought the enhanced ebook (even though I have the hardcover, but on the ebook, they provide commentary throughout the book!). The enhanced ebook was great, to get personal plus professional of all their travels along with their commentary whether it was written or said throughout the book! I loved everything about it, and Dan and Phil should be so proud of everything they've accomplished over the past few years!

Rating: 5/5

My Review:

I absolutely loved this book!! It was so captivating right from the first chapter. It got me excited for this whole series that's for sure. Cinder as a main character was so great, I loved her so much! I'm really loving all the fairytale re-telling stories that are out. This one taking Cinderella, and making her a human cyborg was just perfect!

The main premise of the story is that there's plague on the world, and everyone is trying to find a cure and looking to cyborgs to help find it. When Cinder's stepsister gets sick, her "evil" stepmother volunteers Cinder to be used for a cure, but she's immune and it all goes from there with so many twists and turns throughout the book. It was a complete page turner, and I loved every minute of it.

Prince Kai was a perfect love interest, and I loved that he had his own story going on and how it all connected in the end. I also loved his relationship with Cinder, of course! It was great to see how it developed, and I can't wait to see how it will continue to evolve throughout the series. There is also villainous Queen Levana, who is what is known as a Lunar who's plant, Luna, is the moon. She wants to marry Prince Kai to become royalty on Earth as well.

I'm very excited to read the rest of this series! I love the world that they've created, and I can't wait to see how the story continues, especially with the way they left it at the end.

Work Outfit; Black Body with White Skirt

Working at Indigo has been a dream come true! Not only because I get to work around books, which is one of my favourite things in the world, and where I've always wanted to work, but I get to dress in normal clothes which is just a huge plus to having this job that I love so much. So I thought I'd share one of my outfits that I love to wear.
