Ten years after graduating from high school in Neptune, California, Veronica Mars is back in the land of sun, sand, crime, and corruption. She's traded in her law degree for her old private investigating license, struggling to keep Mars Investigations afloat on the scant cash earned by catching cheating spouses until she can score her first big case.

Now it's spring break, and college students descend on Neptune, transforming the beaches and boardwalks into a frenzied, week-long rave. When a girl disappears from a party, Veronica is called in to investigate. But this is not a simple missing person's case. The house the girl vanished from belongs to a man with serious criminal ties, and soon Veronica is plunged into a dangerous underworld of drugs and organized crime. And when a major break in the investigation has a shocking connection to Veronica's past, the case hits closer to home than she ever imagined.

My Review:

First off, I absolutely love the Veronica Mars series. I did a whole blog post on my review of the Veronica Mars movie after I went to see it in theaters almost two years ago. Since then, two books have come out following the events of the movie. I just finished the first one, and my oh my it was so good!! I got an Audible account, and got the audiobook because it was narrated by Kristen Bell herself. This just took a good book and made it great. It was amazing to have Kristen Bell reading the story and actually being able to hear Veronica Mars' voice. Kristen also put on different voices for all the different characters, she's amazing!!

The case was gripping from start to finish. I love how they set it up, and how it ended. I wasn't expecting it to go that way, so I thought that was cool. I love when that happens, it was just like watching the show again except reading it instead. I love that it brought up details from both the show and movie to get you more immersed in the Veronica Mars world. As a Logan and Veronica shipper, there wasn't enough of them in this book for my liking. But it made sense why there wasn't and the little that we did get was still satisfying.

Overall, this book was exactly what a Veronica Mars fan needed! As a huge fan of this series, I'm so happy to that they are continuing this series in book form. I will follow this show in any way I can, and I can't wait to read the second book, starting very shortly.

What did you think of this book? Are you a Veronica Mars fan?
