Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it... or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

My Review:

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! If I wasn't in such a reading slump, I would've read this a lot faster than what I did. But I really loved this one, and I cannot wait for the next book. I haven't read a fantasy book in a while, I don't think, and I loved this world that Sarah J. Maas created. This is the first book I read of hers as I've heard good things about her books, and now I know why! She's an amazing writer, and I want to read all of her books now.

The premise of the story is that while Feyre is out hunting in the woods to provide food for her family, she kills a faerie and because of this, she must now live in the land of Prythian as part of a treaty, she took a life so the High Lord will take hers and do with it as he sees fit. Luckily the High Lord, Tamlin, just allows her to live freely on his lands.

First off, I really loved Feyre as the main character. I love how strong she was throughout everything. To see her go from poverty and being the sole provider for her family, to being taken to this world that she's only heard of and to truly learn about faeries and how they live. Seeing how her and Tamlin's story develops from Feyre being defensive and hating him, to slowly growing to like and eventually love him was amazing and so well written, it was beautiful. Tamlin as a character is very nice and gentle, and he just wants to care for and take care of Feyre which was very sweet. I loved Tamlin so very much, how can you not!! As well as the supporting characters as well, so well written and I really loved them, like Lucien and Alis, and even Rhysand. (Although I'm a little wary of Rhysand for right now! I will just say that I'm Team Tamlin for now with this book, I'll leave it at that.) Also Amarantha was an excellent villain, you will love to hate her!

So if you haven't read this book, please pick it up! And if you have read it, let me know your thoughts on the book.

Disney Day 2.0!!

Saturday, 26 March 2016

A week ago today, Tasha and I went to Disney On Ice again. Here's the post from our first Disney Day. I absolutely love going, it's a chance to relive our childhood. We got front VIP seats again which was awesome!

I did a little OOTD before we went..

Flannel: Hollister (similar) | Tank top: Forever 21 | Jeans: Hollister
Sunglasses: American Eagle (similar) | Necklace: Anna Saccone | Shoes: Spring

After going to dinner at The Works, we went to get our souvenirs from the gift shop as you can see in the picture above. Then it was showtime! This year I just took videos but I didn't film the beginning so I missed the part with The Princess and the Frog and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But I got most of Cinderella's part and Tangled's.

And that was the second annual Disney On Ice adventure!!

Have you ever gone to Disney On Ice when you were a kid? What's some of your fondest memories from going?

Unlucky in Love

Tuesday, 22 March 2016

Well my little corner of the internet, it's time to have a personal chat about my old friends, anxiety and depression, and the effects it has on my personal life, or more my love life and lack thereof.

The older I get, the more I feel like love just isn't going to happen for me and it is 100% my fault. Through the last few years, there's been chances of being with someone and I let my anxiety get in the way. I get anxious and have a really bad panic attack which spirals into depression. The depression can last days, maybe weeks and sometimes months. Once that happens, I lose all initiative and motivation for any interaction with anyone outside of my family. By the time I get out of my depression bubble, I assume that the guy's lost interest. (I know, I know what assuming makes me). But this has been going on for years now, and I can't seem to break the cycle.

It's very frustrating and annoying, and I get really down about it. A while back I wrote a post entitled "Living with Anxiety" and I decided I don't want to live with anxiety! I've decided that I need to do something. I'm going to see someone to talk about my anxiety because I heard therapy can help since pills didn't help at all for me. It's just hard seeing everyone around me falling in love and having that constant companion with them, and not knowing what that's like and all I have is myself to blame.

I just felt like writing up this little post to kind of shed light on why this blog has been lacking more so than usual this year. I'm not the most consistent writer anyways, but I've had almost no motivation since January. I'm slowly coming out of it, but I'm not completely there yet. It's uphill battle after all!

OTP Spotlight: Chandler and Monica

Saturday, 19 March 2016

Show: Friends
Network: NBC
Actors: Courtney Cox and Matthew Perry

The friends turned lovers, solid relationship of the show. As much as I did love the Ross and Rachel storyline, if you were to ask me to choose between that storyline and these two, I chose Mondler. I loved their storyline the most, and as much as I love the early seasons, it's when these two get together is when the show was at it's best, in my opinion.

Season 1; Not much happens romatically for these two in the first season. They are just really good friends at this point in the series. Only one instance happened when Ross' ex-wife goes into labour with his son, Ben. While in the waiting room, Monica is upset that she may never have babies. Chandler offers that when they are 40, if they are both single that they will have a baby together. Monica then gets offended that there will be a chance that she'll still be single at 40, and that ended that conversation. Other than that, they share nothing but friendship moments in this season.

Season 2; Another season of platonic friendship between these two. There's many cute scenes between them throughout the whole season, but nothing that really stands out that hints at a potential future romance between them. But I love their friendship, and it's what makes when they do get together that much more exciting because they are such good friends and we get to see it for the first few seasons.

Season 3; During this season they are still just friends. Chandler dates Janice, and Rachel's boss, Joanna. Monica spends the first half trying to get over Richard, and towards the end of the season dates Pete. When Janice asks the group if any of them almost, they have a flashback episode. During that episode, Chandler comforts Monica after she finds out that Phoebe moved out. During that scene, when Monica wonders if she's too tense to be around and that's why she doesn't have a boyfriend, Chandler tells he's not sure why she doesn't have a boyfriend, stating “You are one of my favourite people and the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known in real life”. During the episode of Joey's birthday, Chandler gets so drunk that he finds out he "stuck his tongue down [Monica's] throat". He sincerely apologizes to her, and then finds out that he also did it to Rachel, Phoebe and Ross. While they are just friends this season, they are constantly touching and always mention each other throughout the whole season.

In the season finale, when Monica worries she’ll be alone forever after breaking up with Pete, Chandler offers to be her boyfriend “if worse comes to worse”. Monica laughs it off, but Chandler is completely serious and gets a little offended. When asked if he wasn’t boyfriend material, she says “no, you’re Chandler” indicating she only sees him as her friend. Chandler then wonders what she would think if they weren’t friends, but he doesn’t get an honest answer out of her before their interrupted. Throughout the whole episode, Chandler keeps asking her why he couldn’t be her boyfriend and Monica eventually says that she likes guys who are more mature, which Chandler take offence. They finish off the episode with him pretending to be blind dates coming to the door for Monica, and she plays along.

Season 4; First episode back, Chandler is still on about how Monica doesn’t see him as boyfriend material. Throughout the episode he makes jokes about it, and also asks if there was nuclear holocaust and he was the last man on Earth, if she would then go out with him, which she still laughs off. Shortly after that, Monica gets stung by a jellyfish, and it turns out that even though Joey tried, Chandler ended up being the one who pees on her to help relieve the pain. At the end of the episode, he brings it up one more time and Monica finally tells him that she thinks he’s great, sweet and smart but he’ll always be the guy who peed on her and that settled that.

Throughout this season Chandler falls in love with Joey's girlfriend, Kathy. Kathy is played by Paget Brewster who's in a new show I'm watching called Grandfathered. Anyways, while Chandler has his storyline with Kathy, Monica is single through most of the season. She dates a couple guys, but no-one serious. There was one nice Mondler moment, when Chandler was jealous of Joey/Kathy and had to get away from them for a night, he went over to Monica's and asked to sleep on her couch. She brings him and comforts him as they make their way to the couch. It's a little moment, but it was very sweet. Eventually Chandler and Kathy do date, but he gets jealous when she has to be intimate with a co-worker for a play she's in. She ends up cheating on him with that co-worker, which of course ends their relationship.

In the season finale, they are travelling to London for Ross and Emily's wedding. Monica is her usual overexcited self, and Chandler says "6 hour flight to London, that's a whole lot of Monica". It's just interesting to see how they start off this trip knowing how they finish it. When some drunk guy insinuates that Monica is Ross’ mother, Monica gets drunk and Chandler comforts her. When Monica says that her mother’s right and she’s never going to get married, Chandler asks her who wouldn’t want her. The next day, Ross comes in Chandler’s room shouting his excitement about getting married, when he leaves Monica pops up from under the covers wondering if Ross knew she was there. At the wedding when they are walking down the aisle together, they talk about how stupid it was for them to sleep together, but then talk about how Chandler would be coming over after the reception.

This is the beginning of Monica and Chandler’s relationship and it’s so exciting!!

Season 5; This is a big season for them, so this section is going to be long.

Monica and Chandler worry about what them sleeping together will do to their friendship. So they decide that it’s okay for them to keeping seeing each other as long as they are in London because it doesn’t count. So for most of the first episode they keep trying to find places to be together, but continue to get interrupted every chance they get. When they get home, even though they know they can’t be together, they talk about how much that night meant to the both of them. Then Chandler leaves to go unpack, but quickly comes back and says he’s still on “London time” which Monica quickly agrees and they both kiss. They continue their affair behind their friends back.

When Phoebe’s having the triplets, Rachel sets Monica and herself up on dates with male nurses unbeknownst to her that Chandler and Monica are together. Trying to hide their relationship, Monica reluctantly agrees. When Chandler hears about it, he tries to play it off and tells Monica it’s fine since they were just goofing around. Monica gets upset since she was going to try and get out of it, and decides to really go for it with the male nurse. After Chandler tells Monica that his definition of goofing around is "two friends who care a lot about each other and have amazing sex and want to spend more time together". That settles their disagreement, and Monica goes to break it off with the male nurse.

They go away together to Atlantic City to have alone time with no interruptions, but they end up fighting. Chandler thinks that it's the end of their relationship, but Monica quickly reassures them that it was just a fight and that's what couples do, so they make up. While they were on their trip they have some of the same stories, and Monica forgets her eyelash curler which Joey knows about because he received the call from the hotel. So when Monica asks to borrow Rachel's eyelash curler, Joey puts two and two together and freaks out, but is quickly happy for them when he finds out it's serious. Joey being the first Friend that finds out about them spends a couple episodes covering for them.

When they all reveal their worst Thanksgivings, it’s revealed that Chandler called Monica fat and that’s why she lost all the weight, he also told her she should be a chef. When she was trying to get back at him for calling her fat, she accidentally cuts off the tip of his pinkie toe. Chandler gets upset, and then Monica makes up for it by putting a turkey on her head like Joey did one year. Chandler is so amused by her that he tells her he loves her, which he freaks out and before they can really talk about it, Joey comes home and gets scared by Monica.

Rachel is the next of the Friends to find out about them. During New Year's, Rachel's resolution is to not gossip, but then she comes home one day and overhears a phone conversation between Monica and Chandler talking about being together. Rachel then tries to tell Joey but he won't let her because she's not allowed to gossip. So later she tricks Joey into finding out that she now knows about Monica and Chandler as well.

When Ugly Naked Guy from across the street is moving, they go over there to check out the apartment for Ross, and while Ross is filling out an application and Rachel's in the bathroom, Phoebe sees Monica and Chandler from across the street start having sex. Now that Phoebe knows, Rachel and herself play games with them to try and catch them in a lie, they make Joey play along even though all he wants to do is tell everyone. By the end of the episode, Chandler can't keep up the charade and confesses that he's in love with Monica and she tells him that she loves him too. The only one who doesn't know is Ross, and he finds out same way Phoebe does and freaks out at first but is happy for them once he realizes that his sister and best friend are in love.

Now that everyone knows, they all assume that Chandler and Monica are going to get married and have babies which freaks Chandler out. This leads to a fight with Monica who thinks Chandler needs to learn how to be in an adult relationship on his own. To solve it Chandler proposes to Monica in front of everyone which Monica tells him that is crazy and that on second thought, Chandler should learn from her on how to be in a relationship. For the rest of the season, they are the happy couple of the show.

In the season finale, they go to Vegas to celebrate their 1 year anniversary. It gets ruined because Monica went to lunch with Richard and doesn't tell Chandler about it. He finds out accidentally from Phoebe, and gets upset. They make up when Monica tells Chandler that he's the love of her life. While they are gambling at the roulette table, Chandler tells Monica that if she rolls an 8 then they are getting married that night. When one of the dice rolls off the table, it's Chandlers call if that dice equals an 8 or 9, and he says it's an 8. So they set out to get married, but when they get to the chapel, Ross and Rachel stumble out drunk and newly married and that's how the season ends.

Season 6; After seeing Ross and Rachel get married, both Monica and Chandler feel like it’s too soon to get married, but they don’t know how to tell each other so they decide to leave it up to fate. Only problem is fate is on their side and there’s signs everywhere that they should get married. In the end they decide instead of getting married, they decide to move in together. They then have to adjust to living together, and fight about what to do with Rachel's old room, but they work it out and remain to be the happy couple with cute moments throughout the season.

In the episode of what could have happened, Monica and Chandler think about what would’ve happened if Monica was still fat and Chandler had quit his job to be a writer. In this alternate universe, Monica is still a virgin, and Chandler is broke and works for Joey to make money. Monica and Chandler are close friends, and when she tells him she’s still a virgin, he comforts her. They end up sleeping together. When Monica is still with her boyfriend afterwards, Chandler gets jealous and tells Monica that they should be together which Monica happily agrees and they end up together even in an alternate universe.

When the girls go to a museum, Monica puts her and Chandler down for a reservation to get married for fun since there’s a 2 year wait. But when the museum calls to see if they want to move up their wedding, Chandler overhears. He freaks out in front of Monica, but confides in Phoebe that he went to see the place and it’s revealed that he’s going to ask Monica to marry him.

On the night he plans to propose, they bump into Richard so he ends up not going through with it. After that to throw Monica off he pretends he doesn’t ever want to get married. Only problem is Richard tells Monica that he stills loves her and wants to marry her. When Monica tells Joey about Richard, he panics and ends up telling Monica about the proposal but plays it off to Chandler so that Chandler is the one who’s surprised. They end the episode with the proposal, and it still makes me cry every time I watch it.

Season 7; Monica and Chandler spend most of the season planning their wedding. When Monica is going through her wedding book, Chandler feels left out from not being able to voice his opinions for the wedding. They later find out that Monica’s parents spent all the money they saved for her wedding on a beach house so Chandler shows Monica what he has saved up, and it’s enough for her dream wedding if they spend it all. Chandler doesn’t want to do that because he planned to spend some of it on their future and not just for what he calls a “party". Monica gets upset about that because it’s meant to be the biggest day of their lives. Later, Chandler explains what he envisioned for their future but agrees that if she wants to spend the money on their wedding day then they will, but Monica loves what Chandler had planned for them that she agrees to spend some on the wedding and save the rest for their future.

When they choose Joey to be their minister, they tell the story of how they got together. Monica reveals that she actually went looking for Joey instead which upsets Chandler. Monica tries to reassure him how glad she is that it was him, but he says he needs to take a walk. Joey goes to find Chandler and explains to him that it doesn't matter that Monica wanted to be with him for half an hour one night, she wants to be with Chandler for the rest of her life which makes Chandler feel better.

The night before the wedding, Chandler gets major anxiety about it and ends up leaving. Ross and Phoebe go looking for him while Rachel distract Monica. They end up finding him, and Ross gets him through everything one step at time. Everything seems to be going well until Chandler overhears Monica's pregnant from Phoebe. Just when you think he freaked out again, he shows up with a baby onesie and is ready to start his future with Monica. He tells Monica he knows about the baby, and she tells him she's not pregnant which we then find out the cliffhanger of the season that they aren't having a baby, Rachel is.

Season 8; Monica and Chandler spend most of this season as newlyweds. After the reception, Chandler offers to get the disposable cameras developed only to discover that he forgot to ask Ross to collect them. So while he spends the day taking new pictures, Monica opens all their wedding gifts. In the pictures Chandler took, he kissed a bride to make it seem like it was Monica and they decided to call it even to avoid their first fight as a married couple. (delete this??)

When Rachel goes into labour, Monica and Chandler make the decision to start trying to have a baby.

Season 9; When Chandler falls asleep in a meeting, he agrees to move to Tulsa without realizing what he’s agreeing to. Monica is set to leave with Chandler until she gets a better job offer that she can't turn down. So while she stays in New York, Chandler works in Tulsa for 4 days out of the week, making them have go through a bit of a long distance phase.

At Christmas, Chandler is stuck in Tulsa and his co-worker comes on to him. He immediately rejects her because he loves Monica so much. His co-worker asks him why he's spending Christmas with her instead of with Monica, and it makes Chandler decide to quit his job because he can't stand being away from her for so long all for a job that he hates. He decides to start a career in advertising, and after realizing he has to start at the bottom which is unpaid internship, he doesn't think it's time for them to have a baby, but Monica reassures that no time will ever feel right, but it won't matter once the baby comes. So they keep trying to have a baby.

Chandler and Monica go to a fertility doctor to make sure everything is okay when they can't get pregnant after months of trying. It turns out there is something wrong with both of them, and that while they can keep trying, it's very unlucky that they will ever be able to get pregnant. They start looking into getting a sperm donor, but Monica realizes that if she can't get pregnant with Chandler than she doesn't want to get pregnant at all. So they make the decision that they're going to start looking into adoption.

Season 10; This season they start the adoption process. They talk to people who have adopted kids, they get Joey to write them a recommendation letter. They have a home study with their adoption service worker which almost goes badly since Joey slept with her and never called her again, but it works out and she gives them a great recommendation. At Thanksgiving, they get the call that someone picked them to adopt their baby.

When they go to met the woman potentially carrying their baby for an adoption interview, they find out that the adoption agency called the wrong people, so they decide to lie and pretend they are the people that the girl, Erica, picked, but it backfires and Erica changes her mind. Chandler goes to talk to her, and convinces her that they are fit to be her baby's parents. He says one of the sweetest things about Monica; "She's a mother without a baby".

Chandler gets seen getting into a car with a beautiful woman by Phoebe and Rachel, they think he's cheating on Monica, but it turns out the woman is a real estate agent and the couple are looking for houses outside of the city which they end up getting. After Rachel's goodbye party, Erica visits them and they find out she's going into labour so Monica and Chandler rush her to the hospital. She ends up having twins which they name Jack after Monica's dad, and Erica after the birth mother.

Why I love them:

Like I said that the start of this post, if you were to ask me my favourite Friends couple, it was these two. It's so special to watch two characters who were good friends and watch them fall in love with each other. They were just one of those couples that once they got together, they just fit so perfectly that nothing could really shake them. It was wonderful to all of their defining moments throughout the series.

Are you a Mondler fan? What were some of your favourite moments between them?

OTP Spotlight: Ross and Rachel

Show: Friends
Network: NBC
Actors: Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer

The classic "Will they-Won't they" couple on Friends. These two had their ups and downs throughout the series. I'm going to do something a little different from now on for the "Their history" section, I thought I would go through each season and talk about their progression per season. Then at the end, I'll talk about Why I love them.

Now if you've never seen Friends somehow, and don't want to know what happens, then posts like these probably aren't for you. Go watch the show, then come back and talk to me all about these two if you would like.

Season 1; In this season, it's established from the pilot episode that Ross has had a crush on his younger sister, Monica's old best friend, Rachel since highschool. Throughout this season, their relationship is very one-sided as his feelings for Rachel have resurfaced after all these years. Ross is newly divorced after finding out his wife was a lesbian. Rachel was a runaway bride at her wedding, so she's not exactly looking for a serious relationship this season. Their friendship does grow throughout the season though, and they even share their first kiss at the laundry mat, even though it was more a friendly peck from Rachel than a real first kiss. At the end of the season, while Ross is a away in China for work, Rachel finally finds out that Ross is in love with her, and she realizes that she has feelings for him too and she races off to the airport to tell him, unbeknownst to her that Ross is on the way home with Julie, his new girlfriend he met in China.

Season 2; The season picks up where Season 1 leaves off, Ross is with Julie and now the tables are turned and Rachel's the one hiding her true feelings for Ross. That is until when he finds out about Rachel's feelings. They share their first real kiss, and he breaks up with Julie. But before he did that, he wrote a pros and cons list about the two, and unfortunately Rachel finds it. She's understandably hurt about what was said, and they back to square 1. It isn't until a few episodes later when they watch an old home movie from Rachel and Monica's senior prom, that things start to look up for them. In the video, Rachel's date is late and presumably not coming so Ross gets dressed and ready to take her, when it's discovered that Rachel's date showed up afterall. Seeing what Ross was willing to do for her, and how much he loved her back then. Rachel goes to kiss him as Phoebe proclaims "See? He's her lobster" and according to her, lobsters mate for life. They spend the remainder of the season together as a couple. There was a cute foreshadowing moment in episode 20, when Ross tells Rachel how he thinks they'll have two babies, a boy and a girl but he hopes the girl comes first. A little foreshadowing for Season 8 ;)

Season 3; The first half of this season they are still the happy couple they were at the end of Season 2. It isn't until a handsome man named Mark offers Rachel a job at Bloomingdale's when things start getting bad for these two. Ross is extremely jealous of Mark which causes them to have to same fight over and over. On Ross and Rachel's One Year Anniversary, Rachel is too busy at work to celebrate with Ross. Even though she asked him not to, he brings the dinner to her office which only stresses her out more. This then causes a huge fight between them. During the fight, Ross brings up Mark, again, and Rachel is tired of having the same fight with him and suggests they should take a break. To Rachel this means putting a pause on their relationship, but Ross takes it as if they broke up. When Ross calls Rachel to see if they made a mistake, he hears Mark in the background and gets upset that he ends up sleeping with Chloe, the Xerox lady that Chandler and Joey have a crush on. The morning after Rachel wants to make it work, and Ross tries desperately to make sure Rachel doesn’t find out about Chloe which of course she finds out from Gunther. After they have the biggest fight which ends in one of the saddest break ups on TV (I cry every single time).

The episode after the breakup, it’s really tense between them. They can’t be around each other without fighting, and it puts their friends in an awkward position when it comes to hanging out together. Finally the four other friends address who hard it is for them, and ask them to try to learn to be civil with each other or the six of them won’t be able to hang out all together anymore. After Ross and Rachel work on being able to be in the same room as the other. Eventually making jokes and being on okay terms with each other. During one of the episodes, Monica is learning how to rollerskate for her job and falls on top of Rachel, hurting her ribcage. Ross ends up helping her getting ready for a work event even though he has an important event himself where he had the opportunity to be on TV. When Rachel has to go to the hospital, he gives up his chance to be on TV for her which really touches Rachel.

When Phoebe sets Ross up with her friend, Bonnie, Rachel becomes jealous. In the season finale, Phoebe invites everyone to go to her client's beach house. While there, Rachel lets her jealousy get to her and convinces Bonnie she looked better when she was bald, so Bonnie shaves her head. When Ross confronts Rachel, she tells him about the feelings she still has for him. They share a kiss and Rachel invites him upstairs. The season ends on him walking into a room, and we the audience aren’t meant to know if it’s Rachel’s room or Bonnie’s until the next season.

Season 4; First episode back, we find out Ross went into Rachel’s room. Bonnie was there too, but point is he chose Rachel. They kiss and then he goes to break up with Bonnie. Before Ross and Rachel can get back together, Rachel wrote Ross a really long letter that she wants him to read before they do. Ross being up all night breaking up with Bonnie, falls asleep while reading Rachel’s 18 page, front and back, letter. So he unknowingly agrees to something when she asks about the letter, and they get back together. Once he fully reads the letter, Rachel asks if he can take full responsibility for their break-up to which he doesn’t agree and even though Joey and Chandler tell him to let it go, he tries but he can’t. So after they sleep together, she brings up the letter again and he finally can’t take it anymore and shouts “WE WERE ON A BREAK” which ends their attempt at getting back together right off the bat.

Throughout the season, they often compete to make each other jealous and make lots of references to their relationship, but ultimately they become friends. This season, Rachel has a serious crush on a client at work named Joshua. When Rachel's boss asks her to take his niece out, she agrees until she finds out she has a chance to hang out with Joshua. So she asks Ross to take Emily out, and he reluctantly agrees. Even though Rachel doesn't end up getting to see Joshua that night, Ross ended up having a great time with Emily. While Rachel really likes Joshua, she gets jealous and upset that Ross and Emily are together. But she puts that aside and encourages him to be with her when Ross is sad that his and Emily’s 2 weeks are over.

When Ross and Emily announce their engagement a few episodes later, Rachel looks devastated but quickly hides it and congratulates them. When Rachel tries to prove that she’s not upset, and tries to show that her and Joshua are on the same level as Ross and Emily, she suggests to Joshua that they get married, which freaks him out and he breaks up with her. She tells Monica and Phoebe that she’s not really sad about her breakup with Joshua, she’s more upset about Ross getting engaged because she always thought that they would be on again. When she tells Ross about her breakup, he comforts her which only makes her more sad but she puts on a brave face for him, and once he's gone, Rachel turns to her girlfriends.

In the episode where Ross and Emily are sending out their invitations, he contemplates inviting Rachel which he ends up deciding to give her an invitation, she then contemplates if she’s going to go or not. While they each think about what they are going to do, they think back on big moments from their past. In the end, Rachel decides she’s not going to go to the wedding because it would be too painful for her. Ross tries to get Rachel to come to London, but she’s adamant that she can’t and lies and pretends she has to work instead of telling him the real reason. He gets upset, and Rachel feels bad. Rachel talks about it with Phoebe, who helps her realize that she’s still in love with Ross. Phoebe then tries to help Rachel get over Ross, but is unsuccessful as Rachel decides she’s going to London to tell Ross she loves him. When Rachel gets there and sees them kissing, she decides not to tell him, but instead congratulates him. When Ross and Emily are doing their vows, Ross ends up saying Rachel's name instead of Emily's, and that's how Season 4 ends.

Season 5; Ross tries desperately to let Emily know that saying Rachel’s name didn’t mean anything whereas Rachel tries desperately to let everyone else know that it had to mean that he still loves her. Ross makes it known that he just sees Rachel as “just a friend” when he’s talking to Emily’s parents. Rachel being in the room when he says that is devastated. When they’re at the airport, Emily doesn’t show up for their honeymoon, Rachel convinces Ross to go by himself but then he offers for her to go with him since he could use a friend. Rachel agrees to go and gets on the plane, but Ross forgets his jacket and when he goes to get it, Emily is there seeing them. Upset, she leaves and Ross goes after her, leaving Rachel to go on the trip alone.

When she gets back she acts all fine with Ross, but the moment he leaves the room, she vents her frustrations to her friends about how awful the trip was and how humiliated she felt. When Ross is upset because Emily sent back all the roses Ross bought her, Rachel comforts him but is interrupted by Monica who tells her to leave it alone. Later on, Rachel decides to tell him that she still loves him despite everyone telling her not to, but after she says it she bursts out laughing because she then realizes how wrong it is to tell him while he’s still married. Then they start to laugh off all the things that are wrong in their lives. But end it with a friendly hug.

Ross begs Emily to come to New York so they can work on their marriage, and she agrees on the condition that he doesn’t see Rachel anymore. Ross is conflicted the whole episode until Rachel, without knowing what the condition is, tells him to do what he has to to fix his marriage. So when Emily calls, he says he’ll do what she asks, and Rachel being happy for him give him a friendly hug. Ross tries to tell Rachel, but he keeps getting stopped by things until he finally tells her in the end and she gets so upset she storms out of her own apartment. Later they are all hanging out, and Ross asks Rachel to stay, then when Emily calls and they pretend Rachel isn't there but Ross sees how hurt Rachel is so he confesses to Emily that Rachel is there. Then, they talk and Ross tells Emily their marriage won't work unless she trusts him and when she says she doesn't that is the end of their marriage.

For the remainder of the season they are just good friends. In the episode where Ross buys a new couch, the salesman doesn't believe they could be together so Ross makes note that not only did they date but they "did it" 298 times. Then when Ross can't flirt with the pizza delivery girl, Rachel goes gets her number for him.

In the season finale, they all go to Vegas to visit Joey, but Ross and Rachel can't fly out the same day as everyone due to prior commitments. When Rachel's home alone, she remembers a conversation she had with Phoebe and ends up walking around the apartment naked. Ross sees her from across the street and thinks that she wants to sleep with him. When he finds out that's not the case, Rachel makes fun of him which starts a little war between them where they take turns trying to embarrass each other. Ross takes it too far when he draws on Rachel's face because it won't come off. They end up getting really drunk in Ross' hotel room, so drunk that they end up eloping which is the cliffhanger for this season.

Season 6; Ross and Rachel don't remember anything about getting married until their friends have to inform them. Ross doesn't want to be known as the divorce guy so he ends not getting the annulment even though he told Rachel he would. So they spend a few episodes married without Rachel knowing. Phoebe thinks it's because Ross still loves Rachel, which he denies but makes it known that he still does by comforting her about having to move out and offering her a place to stay at his place. While Rachel is moving into Ross's apartment, she gets a call from the divorce lawyer and that's how she finds out she's still married. After they sign the divorce papers, Rachel tells Ross that it was her idea to get married, so they end up reconciling in the end.

When Rachel’s little sister, Jill, visits she ends up going out with Ross which makes Rachel extremely uncomfortable. When Ross finds out he stops seeing Jill, but Jill doesn’t take it so well and kisses Ross. After Ross tells Rachel about it, and says that he stopped it because he knew if anything happened with Jill than nothing could ever happen with him and Rachel again. While he doesn’t know if they'll ever get back together, he doesn’t want to close the door completely on their relationship.

Ross dates a student, Elizabeth, and Rachel ends up dating Elizabeth's dad for a little while. But eventually the age difference between Ross and Elizabeth becomes an issue for them, and Rachel breaks up with Elizabeth's dad when he gets over emotional.

Rachel and Phoebe are talking about Monica and Chandler’s engagement, and about how happy they are for them. They then talk about having a backup in case they are still single when they are 40. Phoebe tells Rachel that she already has Joey as a backup, so Rachel goes to Ross to propose they be each other’s backup. But Ross tells her that Phoebe already made him her backup. The girls then do a draw to see who will be their backup, Rachel gets Joey and Phoebe gets Ross but they quickly switch.

Season 7; After Monica and Chandler get engaged, Rachel feels sad and lonely and decides to kiss Ross. They talk about how they never had “bonus” night which is when after a couple breaks up, they have one night where they sleep together. They don’t end up sleeping together in this episode, but I thought that was foreshadowing to what their storyline in Season 8 is.

Rachel dates her assistant Tag this season until her 30th birthday when she realizes that if she's going to follow her plan than she has to be with the man she's going to marry now, and realizes Tag is too young for her and breaks it off with him.

The day of Monica and Chandler's wedding, Chandler is missing and Rachel feels upset for Monica so Phoebe pulls her into the bathroom so that Monica won't see her upset. While in there, Phoebe discovers a pregnancy test that she assumes is Monica's but we find out at the end of the episode that it's Rachel's, and that she's pregnant.

Season 8; During the wedding reception, Phoebe covers for Rachel while trying to ask her who the father is and when did it happen, questions Rachel's not ready to answer. Monica talks to Rachel about how hard it's going to be for Phoebe to be a single mom, which makes Rachel emotional. Then when Rachel doesn't drink the champagne, Monica clues in that it's actually Rachel that's pregnant. Monica and Phoebe encourage Rachel to take another pregnancy test to be sure, when she does Phoebe pretends it's negative just to get Rachel's true feelings about the fact that she really did want to have this baby then she reveals that it's positive.

Monica and Phoebe speculate who the father could be, and think it's Tag based off a sweater that was left in Joey and Rachel's apartment. When Rachel gets forced to confront Tag by Phoebe, Tag's wearing the sweater proving it's not him. Then at the end of the episode, Ross stops by and recognizes the sweater and claims it's his and he's been looking for it for a month, meaning he's the father! After everyone finds out, Rachel finally tells Ross who doesn't take it so well at first. When Ross shows up at the doctor's, he suggests they get married, Rachel tells him they shouldn't because they're not in love. They argue a little about it until they see their baby on the monitor and all is resolved.

When they tell the story of how it all happened, it's revealed that Rachel made the first move with Ross resulting in them sleeping together. A few episodes later, Rachel goes on a date with one of Joey's co-stars which freaks Ross out at first, but he comes to terms with it. Then he runs into Rachel who cut her date short because he wasn't okay with her being pregnant. Ross ends up cheering her up, and when Rachel goes to see him to maybe hang out more, he's met up with Mona who he met at Monica and Chandler's wedding. Ross and Mona end up dating for the first half of the season.

Around the time they start talking about names for their baby, they have their check-up where they can find out the sex of the baby. At first they say they don't want to know, but Ross catches Rachel peeking and thinks she saw when she really didn't. Ross ends up finding out, and since he thinks she already knows, he reveals that they are having a girl. When Ross keeps missing important moments, Joey suggests that Ross and Rachel live together and so Rachel moves in with Ross. When Mona finds out Rachel is living with Ross, it's too weird for her and she breaks up with Ross.

At Ross and Monica's anniversary party, their parents tell the guests that Ross and Rachel are married. So during the party, they pretend to be married and when they get Ross to explain how he proposed, he tells this beautiful story that moves Rachel and he later tells her that that was how he thought he would've proposed to her when they were dating.

When the baby is late, they will do anything to get the baby out so they try everything the doctor suggests except for sex because Ross is worried about what that will do to their relationship. But when Rachel continues to be unbearably mean, he goes for it and after just one kiss, her water breaks. As they are getting ready to leave, they have a moment where they genuinely kiss and it's very sweet. In the finale, they have their baby. When they can't come up with a name, Monica tells them the names she had picked out, and Rachel loves the name she picked for a girl, and Monica tells her to take it which is how they come up with the name, Emma.

After the baby is born, Phoebe and Ross talk about why he's not with Rachel and he's worried that if they do and it doesn't work out that it will hurt Emma. Earlier in the episode, Ross's mom gave him an engagement ring and he left it in his jacket pocket, when Joey goes to move it, it falls out so he bend down to pick it up and turns to Rachel. She mistakes that as him proposing and because she's upset and afraid she'll be alone, she says yes unbeknownst to her that Ross is on his way to her room to discuss getting back together, and that's how this season ends.

Season 9; The first episode back is a bunch of misunderstanding between almost all the characters about who’s really engaged to who. In the end it’s cleared up that neither Joey or Ross were going to propose to Rachel. Ross did want to see if Rachel wanted to start dating again and Rachel seems interested in talking about it, but he gets thrown off when he realizes that Rachel said yes to Joey’s accidental proposal. After that Ross and Rachel decide to just be friends and take care of their child.

Rachel has her first night out with Phoebe, and before she goes out her and Ross have a moment. At the bar, her and Phoebe talk about it and while they do some guys send them drinks. Rachel ends up giving her number to one of the guys but then instantly regrets it because she doesn’t want Ross to pick up the phone if he calls. He ends up getting the call anyways, and decides to not give Rachel the guy’s number. At Rachel’s birthday she ends up kisses her co-worker that she hates, Gavin, on Monica’s balcony. Ross ends up seeing from his apartment across the street. Ross being Ross, goes about it all the wrong way, and he and Rachel end up getting into a huge fight over everything that she ends up moving out of the apartment and back in with Joey.

For the rest of the season, they are just friends who are parents to Emma. In the season finale, Ross kisses Joey's very recent ex-girlfriend, Charlie and since Joey just finished finding out that Rachel has a crush on him, he goes and kisses her.

Season 10; When Ross finds out about Joey and Rachel, he tries to pretend he's fine when he's really not, but he tries to be in the end for them. But it turns out it's too weird for Joey and Rachel when they try to sleep together, so they break it off and agree to be just friends. As for Ross and Charlie, she gets back together with her ex-boyfriend when they meet up again when Charlie's ex-boyfriend is the person that's going to decide whether Ross gets his grant or not.

When Rachel's dad has a heart attack, Ross goes with her to Long Island to visit him. While there, she tries to make a move on Ross but he refuses because he's worried that because she's upset and vulnerable that he would be taking advantage of her. While he thinks he was doing the right thing, Rachel is annoyed with him about it. After this he claims that they will never have sex again, that "sex is off the table". Which later leads to a conversation about them, and how it's a shame since they have such a strong connection. After that Rachel tells him that for them "it's never off the table".

Rachel goes for an interview with Gucci, but her boss from Ralph Lauren is at the table next to her, and she blows the interview and gets fired from her job. Ross goes with her to clear out her things, and they bump into Mark on the street and he offers Rachel a potential job opportunity with Louis Vuitton. Because it's Mark, Ross becomes jealous again and thinks he's only doing it to sleep with Rachel, but it turns out Mark is married with kids. Mark offers Rachel a job, but it's in Paris so Ross tries deperately to get Rachel her old job back from Ralph Lauren so she can stay in New York and he does, but she decides she wants to take the job in Paris.

At Rachel's going away party, she says goodbye to everyone except for Ross which he gets upset about and he thinks it's because she doesn't care about him as much as she does the others. When he confronts her about it, she tells him that it's the exact opposite that saying goodbye to him is too hard for her. They sleep together after that, and the next morning Ross is heartbroken when Rachel saw it as the perfect way to say goodbye. Phoebe convinces him to tell Rachel how he feels, so they race to the airport so he can tell her. After he tells her he loves her, she still gets on the plane but calls him (and gets his voicemail) while she's on it about how she regrets how they left things and how she needs to see him and that she has to get off the plane. The message cuts off before she says if she got off the plane or not, and Ross is left wondering but she's already in his apartment because she got off the plane. They kiss, and declare their love for each other, promising that this is it, no more on again/off again, they are back together for good.

Why I love them:

It was so clear from the start that they were meant for each other. It was great when they got together, it was heartbreaking when they were apart. Every moment they have together is either very sweet, very heartbreaking, or both. Even though they were the quintessential on again/off again couple, it was very fun to see how their relationship progressed through the whole series and it was so satisfying in the end when they ended up together.

Are you a Ross and Rachel fan? What did you love about them?

***PS. How do you like this style of OTP Spotlight? Going through each season and writing about all the moments that shaped their relationship. Do you like it this way or was it too long and you prefer the way I use to do it? Any input would be very helpful.

TV Talk; Friends

Thursday, 17 March 2016

I've decided that my next rewatch show is Friends. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this show, it still to this day will make me laugh so hard that I will cry. There's also heartwarming moments that will make me cry and then laugh whilst crying. It's just that good of a show as I'm sure everyone in the world knows! If you haven't seen Friends in it's entirety then you need to fix that and stat because it's one of the best shows ever!

Started: Jan 19, 2016 | Finished: March 16, 2016

Order of characters are not in order of preference, but just in order of how they appear in the opening credits.

Rachel Green; Starts off as a spoiled girl who just ran away from her own wedding and grows into a caring, loving woman who is a executive for a big fashion company. Her and Ross have a long history together, and they end up having a child together named Emma.

Monica Geller; She's referred to as the glue of the group. Monica likes control, she likes things clean and she loves her friends. Monica had a very serious relationship with her dad's friend, Richard but it's Chandler that was the love of her life. They ended up sleeping together at Ross's 2nd wedding in London. They fell in love and got married and adopted twins that they named Jack (after Monica and Ross's dad), and Erica (after the babies birth mother).

Phoebe Buffay; She's the oddball of the group. Phoebe is very quirky and fun. She has a very unique view of the world. Throughout the series she has many boyfriends, none that are too serious until she meets Mike who is her first serious boyfriend. She ends up marrying Mike in the final season of the show.

Joey Tribbiani; The lady's man. Joey is a rather dumb character but in a very loveable way. Like Phoebe, he's never really had a serious relationship. He does fall in love with Rachel, and they date very briefly but decide to be friends instead.

Chandler Bing; Sarcastic, funny guy who has a joke for everything. Chandler really grows up throughout the series, as does all the characters, but I feel like Chandler grew up the most. He never really had a serious relationship until he and Monica get together. They need up happily married with two adopted twin babys, Jack and Erica.

Ross Geller; The sensitive one of the group. Ross is a very set in his way kind of guy, and sometimes you feel like he can never get it right, a lot goes wrong for him. He got married three times, and divorced all three times. But he ends up with Rachel who he has a very on again/off again relationship with throughout the whole series. He has two children; Ben who he had with his first wife, and Emma, who he has with Rachel.

Friends is by far one of my all-time favourite shows. No matter how many times I watch it, it will always be funny and heartwarming. I can't tell you how many times I've watched and rewatched this show, and this won't be the last time.

How much do you love Friends? Who's your favourite character? What's some of your favourite moments? Let's talk all about it in the comment section.
